Halvzies Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026Halvzies is a neighborhood-first app for splitting Costco bulk packs with people who live near you. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect
Account info. You sign in with Sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a unique identifier and, if you chose to share them, your name and email. We never receive your password.
Profile. What you type into Halvzies: display name, neighborhood, home Costco location, a short bio, shopper tags, product categories, and an optional profile photo.
Location. Approximate location only, and only if you grant iOS permission. We use it to show distance from other members and to auto-pick your closest Costco. We don't record a location history or share a precise address.
Content. The split posts you create (item, price, timing, notes, optional photo), requests you send, and the messages you exchange with other members.
Device. When you enable notifications, iOS gives us a push token we store so Apple can deliver notifications to your phone.
Reports and safety signals. If you report someone, we store what you reported and why. We don't tell the person who reported them.
We do not collect device advertising identifiers, run third-party advertising SDKs, or sell your data. Halvzies has no trackers.
2. How we use it
- Operate the app: show profiles, splits, requests, and messages to the right people.
- Send push notifications when someone messages you or requests to join your split.
- Keep the community healthy: review reports, prevent spam, enforce our Terms.
- Fix crashes and improve reliability from aggregated, non-personal telemetry.
3. Who sees what
- Other members see your profile, any split posts you publish, and any messages you send them. They do not see your email, phone number, or exact coordinates.
- Our service providers process data to run the app:
- Supabase (supabase.com) hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Apple delivers push notifications via APNs.
- Apple / Google handle sign-in.
- We only share information as needed for the service, and never for advertising.
We disclose data to law enforcement only when we receive a valid legal process, and we'll push back on overly broad requests when we can.
4. Photos and storage
Photos you upload (avatar or split item) are stored in our Supabase storage bucket. Anyone with the image URL can view it. URLs are unguessable. When you delete your account or remove an image, we delete the underlying file.
5. How long we keep data
- Active accounts: we keep your data while your account exists.
- Deleted accounts: when you delete your account from Profile → Delete account, we remove your profile, splits, messages, and photos within 30 days. Message content you sent to others remains in their thread so their conversation isn't corrupted, but is no longer attributable to your profile.
- Reports and safety logs: we may keep these longer to prevent abuse, but they are isolated from user-facing data.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access + correction: tap the Profile tab to see and edit everything we store about you.
- Delete: Profile → Delete account is permanent and removes your data without contacting us.
- Location: you can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Halvzies.
- Notifications: iOS Settings → Notifications → Halvzies.
- California / GDPR / other jurisdictions: you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Our in-app tools handle all three; email us if you'd rather we handle it for you.
7. Children
Halvzies is intended for users 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17. If you believe a child has signed up, email support@halvzies.app and we'll remove the account.
8. Security
We use encrypted transport (HTTPS), encrypted storage at rest, and row-level security so users can only read their own data. No system is perfect; we'll notify affected users if we ever learn of a breach.
9. Changes to this policy
We'll update the date at the top whenever we meaningfully change this policy. If the change is significant, we'll also surface it in-app before it takes effect.
